The type of stair you choose should complement your home or building’s architecture. It must also take into account the space available for a staircase proper and the adequacy of the surrounding spaces — such as foyers, hallways, and landings — to provide clear and gracious access to the stairs. Further, Glen Rock Stairs can help you assess how the projected use of the stairs, and by whom they will be used, can impact your design decisions.
Stair Types
Circular Stair
Circular stairs are perhaps the most beautiful and elegant of all the stair types, but they often require considerably more space than other stair designs.
Flared Stair
Flared stairs are a great option for dressing up what would otherwise be a straight staircase, without needing much extra space.
Straight Stair
Straight stairs are the most common of all stair designs, as they make the most efficient use of space and are often less expensive than other stair types. But they can be just as beautiful as more elaborate stairs!
Spiral Stair
Spiral stairs are usually installed where space is at a premium and where a decorative statement is needed; they are not practical for normal household or business traffic. They require at least a five-foot-square opening.
